Do you sell to the general public?

Yes we do! Even though we specialize in selling to businesses, individual buyers are welcome to buy single item.

Can I visit your showroom?

Since July 2016 we have decided to concentrate our operations toward commercial and online transactions only. Warehouse visits are no longer available. 

What services do you offer?

We specialize in contracting suppliers overseas to produce and import our own mid century, modern and industrial furniture replicas including chairs, office chairs, chaises lounge, chandeliers, table and desk lamps, floor lamps and all types of tables. Regardless of the size of the space you need to furnish (from small restaurant to a big enterprise like Le Journal La Presse) we can help.

How long have you been importing furniture?

We started importing furniture in 2008, to outfit our real estate properties. Then, in 2010, we created Kanvass to serve our growing list of clients.

Why do you sell replicas and not originals?

We love iconic designer furniture just as much as you do, but like most people, we simply do not have the means to purchase originals. We love being able to offer the best of both worlds – great design at a great price.

How does your furniture compare to the “originals”?

Our replica furniture is very comparable to the licensed versions, and are put together using only high-quality materials such as imported top-grain Italian leather and #304 grade stainless steel.

Since embarking on our mission to find the best furniture at the best price, we have learned some interesting facts about the industry. For example, an item need only be assembled or finished in a certain country for the label to read “made in” that country. Most of the labour – up to 70% - can be, and usually is done in other countries (often in Asia), while the tag of “Made in Italy” or “Made in Spain” can still remain. That means, in some cases, you only paying for the name!

Why are your products less expensive than your competitors’?

At Kanvass home, we manufacture and import our own furniture. This eliminates the “middleman” and, by default, the mark-up costs. We also sell at lower margins than most other companies. Simply put, we believe in running a fair and reliable business, and prefer happy customers and positive word of mouth to high mark-ups that will deter repeat buyers.

Is all replica furniture the same?

No, not all replica furniture is made the same. The quality of the product depends on the manufacturer. Several of our competitors purchase from cheaper manufacturers, which results in substandard quality furniture. Here’s an example: the Kanvass Eames-inspired side chair seat has its colour died right into the seat, so if the chair gets scratched, it will still remain the same colour and, in all likelihood, the scratch will be unnoticeable. Most of the competitors’ seat colours are simply painted on. If their chair gets a scratch, the colour underneath will not match and the scratch will be easily seen.

What is the difference between Kanvass’ “Standard” and “Deluxe” models?

The Deluxe model pieces use more refined, better quality materials and may have luxury finishes. For example, our Standard model Eames-inspired lounge chair is upholstered with high durable synthetic leather whereas the Deluxe model is upholstered with premium Italian leather.

Can I purchase products that are not listed on the website?

Yes. In fact, our years of experience have made it possible for us to source any piece of furniture, worldwide. If there is an item you’re looking for that is not currently listed on our website, send us an email (info@kanvass.ca), and we’ll help you find what you’re looking for.

Likewise, if there is a variation of an item (e.g., the colour) which we do not show on our website, please contact us to discuss product options.

 

PURCHASING FROM KANVASS

How can I pay for my purchase?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Paypal for online purchases. At our warehouse, we also accept cash.

For larger commercial orders we only accept bank drafts, certified cheques and wire transfers.

Can I order over the phone or by email?

We do not take orders over the phone, but gladly take email orders. Please send your order to info@kanvass.ca.

Is it safe to make a payment with my credit card on your website?

Our website is SSL certified and our payment service provider Shopify is one of the largest and most trusted in the industry. Your credit card information is both safe and private, and your credit card information will never be stored on our server.

 

OUR PRODUCTS

What is the minimum required purchase for custom orders?

This answer depends on many factors including the style and choice of the products you are looking for and date they are needed. Send us with your wish list, and we’ll get back to you with your options. The minimum turn around is 3-4 months.

Do your products come with a warranty?

Yes, all of our products come with a 6 month manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defects. Our products are manufactured using only high quality materials and are regularly checked for quality assurance, in person, by members of our team. We have worked with our trusted suppliers for many years because of their superior and unrivaled workmanship. We are confident that our products are durable enough to provide you with comfort and enjoyment for a long time to come.

I bought a Kanvass product a while ago. If I buy the same item now, will it be identical to the model I currently have?

We are constantly manufacturing stock to replenish our inventory. While many items generally follow identical production methods, we are always refining the manufacturing process and as such, there may be some slight variations if a large amount of time has elapsed between purchases.
